Faysal Cherif

Dr. Faysal Cherif is Coordinator of Civil Society Outreach at Demos-Tunisia. He Lecturer in Contemporary History at the University of Tunis-Manouba, specializing in military history, civil-military relations in Tunisia and the Maghreb, and Maghreb-EU relations. He has published two books (in French) on the history of the Tunisian army: Tunisia in the Turmoil of the Second World War 1938-1943 (Editions du Center de Presse Universitaire, CPU, 2014) and History of the Tunisian Army of Independence: The Genesis 1956-1960 (CPU, 2017) as well as over 25 articles. He is involved with various academic and civil society activities and projects, appears frequently as a commentator in international media, and has served as a consultant with V-Dem since 2014.
